Job Summary: Assist the Director of Pharmacy in the duties of organizing and providing Pharmaceutical services to all hospital services and disciplines, and all patients regardless of gender, race or religious preference. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: A. Insure appropriate drug therapy for each patient. Interpret and evaluate physician orders in order to prepare, calculate and dispense appropriate medication dosage forms for inpatient and outpatients  Present recommendations for formulary changes to the Director of Pharmacy (recommendations for deletions should include reasons and additions should include a drug review)  Supervise generation of computerized MAR's and ensure their delivery to appropriate units  Generate exception report and resolve potential future problems B. Provide consistent quality of care and appropriate drug therapy Review, maintain and screen patient records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions and therapeutic duplication while entering and checking orders and filling patient wall units Make recommendations to physicians regarding medication use, drug interactions and duplication of therapy Document all pharmaceutical interventions Maintain computer database, process computer backup and document sales and file in appropriate location C. Provide suggestions to enhance therapy and reduce cost Communicate with physicians and nurses to promptly clarify orders that are unclear, illegible or incomplete Communicate with physicians directly when a medication order is questionable (Dose, frequency, directions for use, route) D. Enhance patient care through education of healthcare professionals, patients and self Provide patient education as required and/or requested Provide staff education through inservices or newsletter articles as assigned by Director Keep current on new trends in pharmacy profession Provide a copy of continuing education E. Establish a working relationship with staff nurses, nurse managers, ancillary staff and managers and the medical staff Initiate and maintain liaison service to nursing and other departments Develop and deliver information regarding pharmacy services during nursing clinical orientation F. Insure appropriate, timely, and safe delivery of medications to nursing units and other departments Assist in supervision of pharmacy technicians in distributive functions and departmental operations Provide requested feedback on technician performance to the director quarterly Provide supervisory guidance to technicians Minimum Education, Training and Experience: Required: Active Kentucky Pharmacist License. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
